Princess Beatrice takes a running jump and confidently throws herself into the French Riviera ocean where she is relaxing on holiday.

And with her newly svelte figure, it's fair to say the royal is making less of a splash on her summer break this year.

But Princess Beatrice will have plenty to smile about these days.

Now enviably svelte and toned, she seemed to be more than happy to show-off her new figure in a two-piece suit.

The 21-year-old displayed her slimline look - honed by intense marathon training - as she enjoyed the sun on a luxury yacht in St Tropez.

Wearing white bikini bottoms and a white and blue dotted bikini top, the fifth in line to the throne appeared to be having lots of fun during her summer break on the French Riviera with her boyfriend of three years, Dave Clark.

The student, who has just finished her second-year exams at Goldsmiths, University London, was said to have transformed her body after seeing somewhat less-flattering pictures of herself in a blue bikini during a beach holiday on St Barts in 2008.

Reportedly mortified and 'terribly upset' by unkind remarks about her voluptuous 2008 figure, the fifth in line took up running, shed at least one-and-a-half stone and completed this year's London Marathon.

Earlier in the week she was spotted treating herself to a now rare indulgence as she enjoyed ice cream with her boyfriend.

But while her other half was pictured feasting on a giant cone, Beatrice was a little more modest in her choice, opting for a smaller screwball.

The Princess must have thought that after all that slimming she deserved to treat herself.

Princess Beatrice is set to return to university after her summer break this autumn to start her final year. She is due to graduate in 2011.
