Over: Charlie Sheen and wife Brooke have signed divorce papers
After a tumultuous two year marriage, Charlie Sheen and wife Brooke Mueller have signed divorce papers.
The couple first became estranged after Sheen was accused of assaulting his wife on Christmas day. He is expected to serve jail time later this year.
But the pair, who have twin boys, were thought to be trying to repair their two year marriage.
It has also emerged that Mueller, who has visited rehab on multiple occasions for drug problems, has checked back into a treatment facility.
She is intends to spend 30 days at an undisclosed centre, according to multiple reports.
Divorce documents obtained by website TMZ show that Mueller, 32, is in line to receive $55,000 a month in child support for the couple’s one-year-old twin sons, Bob and Max.
Mueller is expected primary custody of the boys and Charlie will have access at weekends.
Sheen has two daughters by ex-wife Denise Richards and the court documents emphatically state that 'under no circumstances shall the child support paid by Charlie for Bob and Max be less than the child support paid by Charlie to Denise Richards for Sam and Lola.'
Sheen has another daughter by his high school sweetheart, Paula Profitt.
Sheen, 44, will keep the marital home, but has to buy Mueller out for $1 million.
The document also stipulates that Mueller is not permitted 'to disclose to any media sources personal information relating to Sheen's sexual affairs or alleged drug usage,' and Charlie agrees to return the favour.
It marks another low point for Sheen, who today discovered one of his cars had been stolen and found at the bottom of the cliff - for the second time in five months.
The silver 2010 Mercedes Benz was found in a Hollywood Hills ravine in the early hours of this morning.

According to police the vehicle was stolen from Sheen's house and ditched off the side of Mulholland Drive.
The accident is almost identical to an incident on February 5 this year, when someone stole the actor's 2009 Mercedes Benz from his garage and crashed it into a ravine on Mulholland Drive.
Sheen met Mueller in 2006 when they were introduced to one another by Eric Dane and Rebecca Gayheart and announced their engagement in July of 2007.
In February of this year Sheen announced that he would take a break from Two and a Half Men to enter a rehab facility.
On May 18, 2010, he inked a deal to return to the sitcom for another two years for a reported $1.78 million per episode.
