Anything but on the fringe: Katy Perry continues string of Canada appearances in stunning black and white dress

Busy gurl: Katy Perry is appearing on a string of Canadian shows ahead of her latest single release California Gurls and the Much Music Video Awards


Say what you like about her lyrics but Katy Perry sure knows how to pick a stylish dress.

After turning up to magazine shoot in a 1950s pale blue, cherry-print halter-neck number in Toronto yesterday, the 25-year-old appeared on chat show Etalk in a monochrome fringed mini-dress.

The asymmetric piece, which graduated from white to black, highlighted the singer's enviable figure and displayed her individual sense of style.

Teamed with open-toe black mesh sandals, a silver cuff and, of course, her sparkling engagement ring - courtesy of fiance Russell Brand - the I Kissed a Girl star looked sleek in the on-trend ensemble.

While Perry was maintaining her profile ahead of her next performance at the Much Music Video Awards, Brand was making his presence known in London on James Corden's World Cup Live.

The actor and comedian appeared on the show with former Oasis frontman Noel Gallagher to chat about England's performance in the tournament and put a smile back on the faces of frustrated fans.

The trio got onto the subject of Argentina coach Diego Maradona, who when asked about his team's performance recently chose to talk about his 31-year-old girlfriend instead.

Brand said: 'We need maniacs just like him across the World Cup. Otherwise it gets stagnant.'

Gallagher revealed he was at a party in Buenos Aires with the 49-year-old in 1997.

The musician and the rest of his band where in a hotel lobby when an associate of Maradona's approached him and brother Liam and said: "He will see the brothers."

Upon meeting the pair, the former footballer held out his hand, according to Noel, and said: 'Do you want to kiss the hand of god?'

Brand burst out laughing at this and said: 'Noel and Liam Gallagher and Maradona in 1997 - I can't believe there was any drug abuse.'

Despite Brand being a huge football fan his appearance succeeded fiancee Perry's. The singer was interviewed by Corden on his ITV show earlier this week.
