Michael Douglas has a spring in his step despite prospect of fresh legal battle with ex-wife

Spring in his step: Michael Douglas looks back to his old self as he leaves Marea restaurant in New York

It's little wonder if Michael Douglas has a spring in his step.

After finishing a gruelling course of cancer treatment the actor is looking years younger.

The 66-year-old Wall Street star appeared healthy and energetic as he said good bye to his male lunch companion outside of Marea restaurant before walking to a waiting car.

The two men embraced warmly before heading in their separate directions.
Despite the below freezing temperatures, Michael wore no coat but seemed not to be overly bothered by the cold.

He was smartly dressed in a dark blue suit and light blue shirt and appeared healthier than ever.

The actor, who was nominated for a Golden Globe at this year's awards, has been looking increasingly well after undergoing a gruelling course of chemotherapy and radio therapy for stage four throat cancer.

Michael and his wife, actress Catherine Zeta Jones, announced last month that he had been given the all clear.

Michael is now set to fight a new battle, this one not with his health, but his ex-wife Diandra.

The former actress has instructed her lawyers to again go after a share of the £100 million made from his most recent film, Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps.

She had previously filed a suit against Douglas last year saying she was entitled to 50 per cent of his up-front money and 50 per cent of royalties from the film - but this was initially denied.

Her argument was that her divorce deal — signed in 2000, five years after the split — was agreed on the basis that she gets half the money from any movies he did while they were husband and wife, including the original 1987 Wall Street.

The divorce settlement, in which Diandra was awarded £30 million, included a clause saying that she is entitled to money from any spin-offs and she in now claiming that the sequel falls into this category.
