Lean on me: Worse for wear Matt Cardle gets a helping hand from X Factor pal Aiden Grimshaw on boozy night out

Way hey: Matt Cardle is in high spirits as he is guided out of the Public nightclub in Chelsea by friend Aiden Grimshaw last night

Matt Cardle's 'bromance' with fellow contestant Aiden Grimshaw was well documented during their time on the X Factor.

But it appears their friendship is still going strong as they were spotted on a boozy night out yesterday.

Despite being younger than his friend by eight years, it appeared Aiden, 19, was the more sensible one as he helped a worse-for-wear Matt into a taxi home.

The X Factor winner, 27, was in high spirits as he left Public nightclub on Chelsea's King's Road.

Wearing his trademark cap and a scruffy shirt and jeans, Cardle stumbled into a waiting taxi with the help of his wingman Aiden.

But he ended up missing the seat and fell towards the floor, before being caught by Aiden.

Easy does it: The taxi driver and Aiden try to assist Matt into the car

When the Essex native eventually maneuvered himself into the cab, he ended up flat on his back along the seats.

Blackpool teen Aiden was clearly finding Matt's behaviour amusing and laughed along with his friend.

Clearly feeling a bit worse for wear, Cardle wrote a rambling Twitter message at 2am this morning: 'Head over heels . Com. . Xx Eliot. . . :) xx'

Public, which opened in December, is run by Prince Harry's friend Guy Pelly and is billed as bringing 'the New York East London vibe straight to heart of Chelsea'.

Despite their over-21s door policy, security overlooked Aiden's age, who turned 19 in December.

Matt is currently recording his debut album, which is due for release on October 24.

Affectionate: Matt playfully slaps his friend as they lark around

Fellow finalists One Direction and Cher Lloyd have also signed deals with Simon Cowell's record label, which will go on sale on March 12 and August 22 respectively.

Meanwhile Matt and Aiden will join One Direction, Rebecca Ferguson, Paije Richardson, Mary Byrne, Katie Waissel, Wagner Fiuza-Carrilho and Cher when the live tour kicks off in two weeks.

The 51-gig tour starts on February 19 at Birmingham's LG Arena, before ending in Cardiff's CIA on April 10.
