FoxNews – Hollywood’s hottest may get paid hundreds of thousands of dollars to plug a product over Twitter or Facebook, but according to a new study released Wednesday, people are more influenced by the opinion of a blogger (yes, just a regular human being) when it comes to learning more about products or making a purchase. “There is a definite trend we’ve seen where people trust the opinion of a regular person, we trust any person force more than any corporate force when it comes to getting advice and recommendations,” Elisa Camahort Page, co-founder and COO of BlogHer told FOX411’s Pop Tarts column. “Experience can now be seen as expertise.” And personal branding and marketing guru Dan Schawbel said it simply comes to the fact that the average American can’t identify with Tinseltown types. “Most Americans can’t relate to celebrities because they themselves aren’t rich, famous and powerful. Instead, Americans can cling to people like them who might also have a blog that interests them. Normal people are much more relatable than celebrities,” he explained.
When you have the pulse of the people its easy to lead them in the right direction. Les and I both understand that our readers come to our site to get a way from the daily grind of sitting in a cubicle all day and doing menial task that people without high school diplomas could do. We know that most of our readers agree that the use of the word fag is ok in certain (all) situations. We know that most of you hate people that are different from you/us. We know because we are just like you. We have jobs just like you, we go grocery shopping, we do laundry, and we jerk off regularly.
So for advertisers to just be catching on to the fact that people relate more to Les than say the black president from '24' is amazing to me. Its actually incomprehensible why advertisers would pay huge sums of money to have clowns endorse their stuff, when they could pay a tenth of that to bloggers with huge cult followings and get better results. You know, like a website that gets thousands of daily pageviews and is suited towards the 18-40 age bracket that all advertisers covet. Seems like a no brainer to me. So for those that are ready to get down with a site thats ready to take it to the next level, send your offers here: biggamechicago@gmail.com
(Ed note: Did you see Les' body in that Machine picture earlier. Thats why advertise with us. Thats why you lift all them weights)
